MORA Residential Building – A Monolithic Masterpiece in Vratza Limestone
How do you create a building that feels both monumentally heavy and elegantly luminous? For the award-winning MORA Residential Building in the historic center of Bucharest, the acclaimed architecture studio ADNBA found the perfect answer: a continuous, geometric facade clad entirely in premium Vratza Limestone.
The Vision: Sculptural Modernism The architects sought to emulate the stature and nobility of early 20th-century architecture while delivering a cutting-edge contemporary design. They designed a five-story luxury apartment block with an imposing scale, characterized by deep, angled window reveals and sharp geometric intersections. To bring this sculptural vision to life, they required a stone that was homogenous, workable, and visually striking.
The Solution: The Vratza Limestone Monolith Vratza limestone was chosen to cover the entire exterior, giving the building its signature monolithic yet luminous appearance.
● Flawless Geometry: The exceptional workability of Vratza stone allowed for the precise execution of sharp corner details and dramatic, angled balconies that seem carved directly from a massive stone block.
● Luminous Aesthetics: The pale, warm beige tone of the limestone catches the sunlight beautifully, softening the strict geometric lines and adding a luxurious texture to the solid structure.
● Architectural Truth: Special care was taken with the jointing and edge details to reveal the true thickness of the stone, demonstrating that the limestone is a sophisticated, protective “light coat” over the modern structural setup.
Featured in top global design publications, the MORA Residential Building stands as a definitive proof that Vratza limestone is the ultimate medium for avant-garde, luxury architectural expression.
